{Leap} Late last week I received an email that stopped me in my tracks. I read it three times before believing it was true. Over the next nine minutes I did a painfully embarrassing happy dance around my kitchen, explained eleven times to my husband and kids what Scary Mommy is, cried a little, had a mild panic attack and then power messaged a small group of women (I had the privilege to attend a writing retreat with years ago) to see if this piece was actually publishable by someone more notewo

{Breakfast} We are currently living without a kitchen which means getting a little creative when feeding our crew. It feels good to know that living simply can still be healthy. Oats, chai and fresh fruit are a staple that we will still be embracing even when our stove arrives.
{All the Carbs} Today feels like tonight might be a loaf of fresh bread, hunk of good cheese and bottle of wine kinda night.
{Feels Massive} The world is a big place and there are many things that could be fixed, rewound and done differently. • We are the first to admit that we are not the poster family for zero-waste. What we are is an everyday family, witnessing the toll that our choices are making in the world we are leaving to our kids while trying to manage the endless amount of packaging and garbage that comes into the farm. • Maybe, just like you the thought of changing the way we do everything seems a little (

{Sabina is Bold} This is Sabina. She’s a farmer, a single mom, and the primary caregiver to her elderly mother. She approaches her days with bold wisdom, keen resourcefulness and a dedication to hard work. • Days used to start early for Sabina. Without any other option, every morning required a long walk to collect water needed for breakfast, bathing, and cleaning - usually from a distant, unsafe natural source. There were only a few occasions on which Sabina purchased water from a vendor. She v
{World Water Day} Did you know that 844 million people around the globe do not have access to safe water? That means for these families their time is spent trying to access safe water rather than being in school, being able to work, care for their families and define their futures. Help us help @water make a difference today 💧With each of our hand-crafted copper vessels we donate $5 to @water. That one donation alone means up to 9yrs access to safe water for someone in need! {Our Head-start into Social Distancing} Five years ago we left the city in search of wide open spaces, land and a different way of living. What we didn’t realize was how this would prepare us for being more isolated when the world demanded it. I thought I would share some of the things we have learned along the way. Some are practical and some are just good reminders of what is most important and what you just might have more time to see. Find today’s blog in the link in our profile.
{Thank you} From the bottom of our ridiculously full hearts, we want to thank every single one of you who braved the elements to come out to @littlemodernmarket yesterday. • The storm may have delayed our shipment and we had no idea what to expect. But! You guys! You blew us away with your excitement to make change. The response was overwhelming. We presold so many sets and couldn’t be more grateful. • Thank you for believeing in us, for valuing our initiative and for being willing to do better!
{Simple Moments} They go by so fast. This photo is from a few years ago now.... Where did the time go? Where will we be a few years from now? Let’s all use this time to pause, take in all the moments, cuddle all the bunnies and memorize all the little features that change and shift so quickly.

{Get Creative} Heading to the Farmers Market this weekend? Bring an old box or crate to help carry the load. When we’re feeling super lazy or busy we strategically put all the root veggies in the crate and leave the crate full in our cold room ~ it means we can avoid unpacking right away and skip using so much fridge space.

{Taking a Moment} The past while has been heavy. I have never before felt the weight of trying to wear so many hats, all at once, at all hours of the day - and I’m not even a hat person. At first glance (ok, maybe even at second and third glance) I likely come across as a control freak. It’s a symptom of having no control and holding on for dear life by a single fraying thread. Born from fear, hardened and polished overtime to a shell that protects the parts of me that are most vulnerable but al
{Here Comes The Cold} We’ve been waiting for this cold snap at the farm. Last year our water froze underground going to the barn ~ which meant from January to May we were filling and hauling garbage bins with water (with a hose through a basement window of the house) to make sure the animals could drink. It was a LONG and miserable chore that definitely took all the glam out of farm life. But, everyone made it through. As we head into this chilly weekend we will have the fireplace going, the mus
