Her and her neighbors' children suffered from multiple unexplained illnesses. With Gibbs as leader, the neighbors formed the Love Canal Homeowners Association. Ultimately Pres. Jimmy Carter agreed to relocate 833 families. This led to the creation of the EPA’s Superfund cleanup program. Gibbs has continued in her activism...
