New location for Speedy
UK rental company Speedy has opened a new regional service centre in Reading aimed at improving its coverage of the Thames Valley region. The new 1,675 square metre depot is more than twice the size of its previous location in the town and will offer the company’s full range of lifting equipment which includes powered access and hoists. Loxam acquires JM Trykluft
French international rental group Loxam has acquired Danish rental company JM Trykluft from its owners Christian Kannegaard Samuelsen and Carl Frederik Studier. Based in Aarhus, JM Trykluft offers a wide range of aerial work platforms, telehandlers, fork lifts, mini crawlers and spider cranes, as well as general tools and equipment from nine locations throughout Jutland with 70 employees. Last year the company generated revenues of more than €18 million.

Italian spider lift manufacturer Easy Lift has appointed UK sales company Independent Access Sales (I A Sales) as distributor. AFI to upgrade delivery fleet
UK access rental company AFI has taken delivery of three DAF 6x2 tractor units and ordered 15 Montracon trailers suitable for its ‘Super-Set’ range of large boom and scissor lifts with working heights of 20 to 58 metres. JLG/Power Towers has reached a supply agreement with Dutch scaffold tower, low level and ladder manufacturer ASC for the Benelux region. Another Acquisition for REIC
Montana, US, based Rental Equipment Investment Corp has purchased the assets and ongoing business of Rent Me Rentals of Cle Elum, Washington - around 70 miles west of Seattle - from owner and chief executive Paul Dearmin. With the addition of Rent Me's branch in nearby Yakima, Washington, REIC now offers a branch network of 30 locations across eight states in Montana, Idaho, Washington, Utah, Oregon, Colorado, Minnesota and Wyoming.
Hüffermann acquires Eisele
German rental company Hüffermann Krandienst has acquired Frankfurt based crane and heavy haulage company Eisele AG Crane & Engineering group for an undisclosed sum. Prangl opens in Sweden
Austrian/international crane and aerial lift rental company Prangl is opening its own Swedish operation. Prangl has carried out lifting contracts in Sweden for many years, and is now looking to expand its activities in the Nordic region. Aerial lift apprenticeships kick off
The first wave of budding powered access technicians have started their formal studies for the brand new specialist aerial work platform technician apprenticeship pioneered by IPAF - the International Powered Access Foundation. The first eight apprentices are attending the first session of a new college course this week at the North Warwickshire & South Leicestershire College – the first college to offer the course.
The Essex way
UK aerial lift rental company Upward Powered Access is opening a fourth location, in Billericay, Essex, this week to cover the region on the east of London and beyond Upward was set up in 2008 by Paul Johnson in the Oxford area. It added a Slough, west London depot in 2014 and one in Nottingham in 2019, with Tim Ward, previously of Niftylift, joining the business along the way. The new location will start as a satellite operation with machine storage and service ready for faster local deliveries
