Close-ups of a bridal costume from Balıkesir town (& nearby villages). Late-Ottoman style, 1930-40s. Set up around a reddish pink silk robe, adorned with large roses in golden thread embroidery, golden spirals & copper sequins. The 'tepelikli fes' (hat with silver cover) and the silk headscarf (adorned with sequins & white silk threads) date from the same period, as does the bronze cast belt, which features European 'Art Nouveau' influence. (Kavak Costume Collection-Antwerpen/Belgium).
