Jami-Yusuf & Zulaykha يوسف زلیخا

Yusuf and Zulaikha (يوسف زلیخا) is the Quranic verse of Yusuf (Joseph) and Zulaikha (the person known in the Bible as Potiphar's wife and whose name is not given there) by the Persian poet Nur ad-Din Jami نورالدین جامی‎ 1414- 1492 is a classic of Persian literature. It has been told and retold countless times in many languages spoken by Muslims, especially Persian and Urdu. The Walters collection of the manuscript (644, 645, 646, 647 and 808) are presented here in a chronological order.

Binding from Yusuf and Zulaykha   is composed of dark brown goatskin (with a flap). The binding has panel-stamped central and border divisions with floral and vine designs, brushed with gold. The red doublures have a central lobed medallion and cornerpieces of gold filigree work over colored paper with significant loses.Walters manuscript W.644 ends here.
