Sa’di Shiraziمصلح‌الدین بن عبدالله‎(1210-1292), was one of the major Persian poets, literary men of the medieval period. Walters manuscript 617 - 618 are illuminated and illustrated Safavid copies of the collected works (Kulliyat) and Walters 616, 619 - 620 are illustrations of Sa'di’s best known works Bustan (Orchard) and Gulistan (Rose Garden) at start of this presentation. The poet's name, given as Muslih-i Din Shaykh Sa'di, is inscribed in the illuminated headpiece in black Nasta'liq script
