Woman wearing traditional colonial clothing that would have been worn at the time of the Revolutionary War.  Many women in the early 1700's did not own more than about 2-4 outfits. Their clothing would usually be made of wool or linen  would all be hand sewn.  Several layers, consisting of an undershift, the gown (which was split in the front to reveal an underskirt), a stomacher, a fichu (neck scarf worn tucked in or draped over the neckline), an apron.
