Traditional festive headgear from the Olti/Oltu region (North of Erzurum province). Well-to-do Armenian, c. 1900. The felt hat is adorned with needle work, small Ottoman copper coins, 2 x four lines of: wild pearls + one silver coin, and a gilt silver clasp holding a purple silk tassel; the tassel is attached to the hat by a string of blue glass pearls.
