Small Outdoor Spaces
Just because an outdoor space is smaller, doesn't mean it can't be jam-packed with colossal style. Small decks, screened porches, patios, pergolas and more.
Create two distinct gathering areas in a smaller backyard by combining a deck and patio. Pressure treated pine deck with bayed staircase leads down to a new paver patio. Note both designs are symmetrical which enhances the clean lines established. Note the wide steps that allow easy flow from the deck to the patio.
When your space is small, make it an extension of your indoor living space and use hardscaping to create entertaining areas. Open those doors wide and let the spaces work together. Use furnishings outdoors, plant grass for “carpet,” add planter “accents” and remember to just enjoy the space you have to its fullest, no matter what size!
Courtyard and balcony decor is a tricky thing. You need to be able to inject in some life and color but at the same time keep things well fitted. Look for potted or hanging plants in cool and quirky pots, furniture that can fold away or trays that can serve multiple purposes (like a milk crate that can double as a storage space OR a seat).
