Alfred Hitchcock's 'Vertigo', 1958 - James Stewart plays John 'Scottie' Ferguson, a former police investigator suffering from acrophobia, who after being hired by a friend to shadow his wife Madeleine, becomes obsessed with her. Her husband, Gavin Elster (Tom Helmore) believes his wife is posessed by Carlotta, a beautiful dead woman. Scottie falls in love with Madeleine, which leads to tragedy & this time Hitchcock doesn't opt for a happy ending.
