Scout doesn't have much interest in typical girl things. She is much like a boy. Maybe it is a system to protect herself. "I felt the starched walls of a pink cotton penitentiary closing in on me, and for the second time in my life I thought of running away."
The first time that Scout ashamed was when she was fighting with Cecil Jacobs. She left the fight and walked away. "'Scout's a cow-ward!' ringing in my ears. It was the first time I ever walked away from a fight.
Scout, Dill and Jem are best friends in the novel. They hang out everyday. Scout thinks that Dill is a great friend but he looks more younger than he is. Jem thinks in the same way as Scout; "You look right punny for goin' on seven." Jem says.
