A U.S. paratrooper of the “hatchet team” of B Company, 502nd Battalion, 101st Airborne Division, holds the severed head of a Viet Cong guerrilla who was killed in hand-to-hand jungle fighting 12 miles northwest of Ben Cat during the Vietnam War, Dec. 12, 1965. The company had chased a squad of Viet Cong guerrillas, one of whom dropped a grenade that wounded several soldiers. Soldiers jumped the the guerrilla and beheaded him by hatchet. His head was buried in the jungle. Brutality

This short (11 min.) film is of a Viet Cong ambush of American soldiers during the Vietnam War is remarkable for a number of reasons. 1st, that it was caught on camera at all. 2nd, because many of the US soldiers who survived are interviewed, but thirdly because the commander of the Viet Cong soldiers who attacked them is also interviewed. The other thing that comes out of this footage is how terrifying and difficult it must have been to fight the Viet Cong in their own jungle.
