Fairly simple to install, a tubular skylight requires cutting two holes, one through the ceiling for the diffuser, another in the roof for the dome that covers the reflective tube. Fit the dome in a north-facing aspect of the roof for maximum benefit.
Diagrams shows a room that using light shelves to create a bright area, as well as allows natural sun light to fall on the other side of the room. The diagrams also show light shelves being used to direct passive light inside the room.
