The White Tower is the oldest structure within the Tower of London. White Tower, which gives the entire castle its name, was built by William the Conqueror in 1078, and was a resented symbol of oppression, inflicted upon London by the new ruling elite.

Taken after hours in the Tower of London. It was a little strange (and delightful!) walking around without having any tourists getting in the way. The Jewel house is the home to the Crown Jewels. Sadly cameras are not allowed to be used inside and I didn't want to take advantage of the hospitality shown to us all, so my camera remained in my bag when I was inside.
