#breathe

Hi and welcome to the latest Freshly Made Sketch challenge where I am the hostess this week. For my card, I went with an old technique called Faux Tearing. I tore up a sheet of copy paper and using both pieces of the torn strip, I masked off areas on a white panel and sponged ink before stenciling in a similar color. I accidentally ended up with 4 strips instead of the 3 in the sketch, because I thought the colors weren't dark enough so went over them again, not realising that one of the…

Ink Smooshing with the MISTI door

Hello friends! Today I’m up at MISTI blog sharing my first post with this fun and easy card using the ink smooshing technique but instead of using an acrylic block I will use the MISTI door to apply the Distress Oxide inks. Let’s begin! I placed a watercolor panel inside the MISTI and I smooshed Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink onto the MISTI door, sprayed water and then I closed the door to apply the color. I repeated these steps using Broken China and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide inks…

MFT, Simon Says and PaperArtsy Cards

Hello friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I had a few little spurts of time and worked on a few cards here and there. Last weekend my friend Carol and I went to our local stamp convention and Top Flight Stamps was there with a huge range of PaperArtsy stamps. I was more than inspired and pulled out my flower images. I already had ELB022 and purchased JOFY063 at the show. The best part of these cards was that the backgrounds were in my pile from a mini album I was working on that…

Distress Oxides on Photo Paper

Ahoy and Festive Greetings! Not long now until the big day .... Yay! Today's cards were made using Distress Oxides, glossy photo paper and stamps from MFT. The reason for using glossy photo paper is that you get that intensity of colour from the Distress colours rather than the chalky look. These are the colours I used and the technique was simple...just rub ink onto your craft mat, spray on water and then smoosh the photo paper in to the colour. Do one colour at a time and air dry or heat…

Colour Me 'Brightly'

It's our Colour Week at Just Us Girls and Hosting is Lisa and looking for bright colours! I made a really simple card as I wanted to ink up a new to me (second hand) Dreamy Penny Black Stamp and decided to heat emboss in black. Inked up my background with the above colours using Tim's Distress and Oxide Inks, adding some black stenciled splatters also from Tim. Sentiment is from STAMPlorations and heat embossed with glitter powder which turned out a little different especially with the…

rhinestone cowboy

Hi everyone, the July Emerald Creek Dares Challenge is inspired by the song Rhinestone Cowboy. This month kicks off rodeo season in Calgary and the team at Emerald Creek is hoping you bring the western bling, paisley, country, anything! I have created three cards to celebrate the rodeo and showcase one of my favorite Emerald Creek embossing powders, oil rubbed bronze. All of the backgrounds were created using distress oxide inks blended to create the look of gorgeous summer sunsets. I used…
