You are allowed to terminate your relationship with toxic family members. You are allowed to walk away from people who hurt you. You are allowed to be angry & selfish & unforgiving & don't owe anyone an explanation for taking care of you.
Once beyond the shock of figuring out what we actually experienced, we then are drawn to learn all we can about them, and ourselves. Then begins the true journey of healing and becoming our new selves. Sometimes after not caring for ourselves for so long, we can go in the opposite direction too far. Imagine a swinging pendulum. But it's ok, balance will come. Like learning anything new there will be adjustments along the way. Be gentle with yourself and allow for mistakes :)
