Black sea yatahan (laz bichaq), a very rare example of a sword peculiar to the South shore of the Black Sea, the Lazistan. The area is inhabited mainly by Muslim Georgians ( Laz), whose chief occupation was piracy and smuggling. This one has a 18 inches blade decorated with brass inlay on the spine. The pommel spikes are horn. Wood scabbard covered with a iron sheet and part of the original leather binding. Total length 26 inches.
