Zurnaci. A mehtar (Janissary band) trumpeter holding a zurna, a trumpet or shawm, which has a brass mouthpiece. Wearing a black kaftan, blue robe, white kuşak, wide turban but no plume. Red trousers and yellow ankle boots.
Foot soldier wearing a green tunic, red trousers, white leg protectors, yellow ankle boots and red turban with blue cap and plume. Carrying a fuse and matchlock and wearing an ammunition pouch and powder horn.
Peyk başı. Superintendent of the peyks. Sitting cross-legged on a white chair, his staff held across his legs. Wearing a short-sleeved brown tunic with sharp spikes as 'epaulettes' on his shoulders. White belt (kemer) with a gold buckle, gold dagger in scabbard. Wearing the külâh-i peyk with plume.

Cebici. A foot soldier of the old corps of armourers attached to the Janissaries. Helmet has a long plume-holder containing a stiff plume. The helmet fits over a blue cloth which is tied over the head and knotted under the chin. Silver helmet with gold brim and top. Stubble on his chin. Holding a matchlock, he is wearing a green tunic, blue kuşak with a knife in a case (kârd), a sword, high white leg protectors, red trousers and yellow shoes.
Sipahi. Cavalryman wearing a crimson cloak, pale blue tunic, mauve trousers, white sash (kuşak) with a dagger in a scabbard, high yellow boots. The turban is large and loosely wound, with a plume in the centre.
Ulak or tatar. Messenger or government courier who travelled on horseback. Carrying a whip. Wearing a dark green tunic, crimson trousers and high boots and the distinctive round head-dress, tatar kalpaği.
Captain of a ship or a galley. Wearing a red kaftan with silver frogging. Blue robe, white kuşak to which a dagger in a gold scabbard is attached by a long cord, red trousers and yellow ankle boots. Tightly wound white turban with a red cap.
Torba oğlanı. A young Janissary in training, carrying a basket slung over his shoulder, as he goes to market. Wearing a brown cap with the end turned down, green tunic, pale blue knee breeches, white stockings, yellow shoes, light blue kuşak.
Yeniçeri aşçi. A cook of the Janissaries. Has the unshaven stubble on his chin seen on other servants, bare fore-arms and carrying a blue cloth bag over his shoulder. Green tunic. Maroon kaftan with blue lining and shirt sleeves. Plume in the plume-holder of his Janissary head-dress. High black boots.
A Janissary on campaign. Has a plume in the plume-holder on his Janissary head-dress. Dark purple kaftan with black lining and very long sleeves. Pale blue tunic, white kuşak, red knee breeches, white stockings and yellow ankle boots.
