German manufacturer Enercon has recently constructed the largest wind turbines in the world. The 198 meter (650 ft) high turbines needed a special 1,600-ton crane to lift its rotors into place. Five of 11 planned E-126 turbines are currently in operation. All 11 turbines are due to be installed by July 2012.
