A traditional festive ensemble (‘şalvar’/baggy trousers + ‘cepken’/long-sleeved vest) from the Bursa   region.  Late-Ottoman, well-to-do rural style, circa 1925.  Adorned with goldwork embroidery (in ‘Maraş işi’-technique) on silk.  Trousers and vest were purchased in Bursa in 1988.  (Kavak Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).
