♣ progressive education finds its roots in present experience. There is an emphasis on learning by doing – hands-on projects, expeditionary learning, experiential learning. Progressive learning means that we place a strong emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking- and that we are working on developing our social skills, with an emphasis on group work and collaboration.

Expeditionary Learning Schools are based off Kurt Hahn's experiential education philosophies. Developed at Harvard, EL schools are located around the United States and serve k-12 students.

Learning Targets: Kindergarteners at The Odyssey School by Expeditionary Learning. This clip highlights the cornerstone assessment strategy of “Communicating Learning Targets and Criteria for Success”. At The Odyssey School, a K-8 public charter in Denver, Colorado, students at every grade level and in every subject actively engage in “unpacking” learning targets so that they are able to articulate a clear vision of the intended learning as a first step toward achieving success.
