What Top Coat Should I Use?

What top coat should I use? It depends on your objectives; do you want a clear finish, fast dry time, interior or exterior use, a certain sheen, want to spray, etc. ? For an interior clear finish or a Flat finish, use HIGH PERFORMANCE water based topcoat.

Nicole Adams - I sanded the top down first. Then stained with 2 coats of General Finished Gray Gel Stain, a day apart. Allowed to dry for 3 days. Then brushed on (with a 6" wide brush) General Finishes white glaze, then wiped it along the grain with Scot shop towels. Then did the same with their brown glaze. Followed by a few touch ups with both glazes and the stain. After another couple days, I applied Modern Masters Masterclear in matte finish.

General Finishes Coastal Blue -- a true navy blue. On this set, I sanded the Coastal Blue back to create an almost denim look. As you see, it pairs very well with brass or gold hardware.

Paint: General Finishes Antique White Glaze: General Finishes Van Dyke Brown -- just paint it on and wipe it off (working in sections) Top Coat/Sealer: General Finishes High Performance Top Coat in Flat Hardware: Rust-Oleum Oil Rubbed Bronze and a spray polycrylic to seal the paint
