Travel Guide To Madeira - tips from a local - via @anasofianvasc, frommadeiratomars 05.02.2015 | I did this guide once for a friend of a friend that came to Madeira for the first time, a few months ago. It was based on my personal preferences. I’ve decided to share it on the blog so that you can use it and share it as an extra help to planning your stay. Hope you enjoy it and find it useful.

Been here. The picture doesn't even describe the freshness of the air. When things get chaotic & I close my eyes, this is my imagination's peaceful place.

“Poios” is what agriculture fields are called in Madeira Island. They look like this because it’s easier for farmers to plant their crops due to the inclination of the mountains. Sadly, over the years they have been replaced by houses, hotels, malls, etc. You can still find some mostly in the north.

3 Magical walks in Madeira ranging from an easy 3km stroll to Balcões to a moderate.10 km levada walk to the 25 Fontes, or springs. The one in the photo is the walk down into Nun's Valley, aka Curral das Freiras, where nuns eventually tired of running to escape from pirates and bandits and settled. Although I'm bummed Portugal scored in the last couple seconds to tie USA 2-2, Portugal is absolutely beautiful.
