Embroidered ‘çevre’ (square kerchief; a decorative accessory) from Kozak Yaylası, near Bergama. Late-Ottoman style, first half of 20th century. A design of flowers and branches, in ‘tel kırma’-technique (motives obtained by sticking narrow metallic strips through the fabric and folding them). Edged with silvery Metal thread ‘oya’ (Turkish lace). (Source: Tekin Uludoğan, Balıkesir).
