Traditional dayly outfit from the Malatya province, Kurdish (Zaza) Alevi ethnic group, mid-20th century.  With an ikat silk ‘deyre’ (an üçetek with front panels decorated on the inside – a garment which is characteristic of Alevi people).  (Kavak Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).

The rear of a ‘pullu cepken’ (jacket) from the Pomak villages near Biga (Çanakkale province), mid-20th c. With close-ups of a sleeve and of the lower edge of the garment. Handwoven fabric in combed wool, adorned with cotton embroidery, silver and gold zigzag ribbons, metallic sequins, small glass beads, (cotton or orlon) pom-poms, buttons. Ethnic group: Turkish Alevi. Damask weaving in mercerised cotton. Adorned with multicoloured cotton embroidery and metallic sequins. (Inv.n° yeL025 - Kavak Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).

A three-pointed 'paralı arkalık' (waistband with coins) for women. From central Anatolia, mid-20th century. Reassembled entirely on new cloth, in order to wear it during folk dance appearances. 210 late-Ottoman & early-Republican (middle-sized) coins (1900-'43), three larger Ottoman silver coins (ca. 1800), plastic beads and a narrow card-woven woollen belt adorned with glass rings & animal hair tassels.
