Plastic bottle rocket...as a piggy bank! This would be perfect for learning about the space coast. We would need to paint the bottles white with acrylic paint ahead of time, then let them decorate them with permanent markers and paper. This way we could teach them how every rocket ship that goes into space takes a lot of money to fly, and they tell us when their ship is full of coins. When they do, we'll have a space party.

Love these rockets! Maybe add some foil. How about a cutout of child's face peaking out of the window?!

If the #Easter weekend brings rain, it doesn’t mean kids can’t go on an adventure. By following these simple steps they can even explore as far as outer space! Now, we can’t promise this homemade rocket ship – constructed entirely from household items – meets exact NASA specifications, or is durable enough to survive re-entry into the earth’s atmosphere, but we’re sure it will fire your kids’ imaginations. #EasterTogether

Martha Stewart: Paper Mâché Vehicles for kids who love to make things move--miniature cars and buses, trains and planes, rocket ships and UFOs. In an afternoon, you can turn cereal boxes, paper plates, and cardboard tubes into vehicles of all sorts. And you don’t need any high-tech materials--just flour, strips of newspaper, glue, and paint.

We made flying saucers with space aliens by painting paper plates, glueing them together, and adding gems as lights. The children crafted their own aliens with playdough, wikki stix, and google eyes. Domed drink covers went on top. We hung them from the ceiling. Everyone loved them!
