A Portrait of Emperor Awrangzeb (r.1658-1707), India, Mughal, circa 1670 Gouache heightened with gold on paper, depicting Awrangzeb wearing a jewelled red and gold turban, gold floral patka, holding a fly whisk and sword, a halo around his head, with a jewelled katar secured in his belt, laid down on an album page with leafy outer margins set with applied foliate cartouches in different colours.
