Night view at Ortaköy Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey. Near this little waterside mosque are small restaurants…a lovely place for dining al fresco.

Istanbul

I was shocked and surprised at how much I loved Istanbul. You really can't look at photos.you need to smell it.

Kadikoy's a huge district on the Asian side of Istanbul with a population of about half a million people, but it's got a fairly compact centre occupying the area around the ferry port and up the hill towards the upscale Moda . My favorite bookstores ,cafes are here.

Istanbul and the Bosporus

Istanbul - at the crossroads of Europe and the Middle East

Istanbul, Turkey: The Crossroads of Europe and Asia. Sea of Marmara at the bottom, Bosphorus Strait, going to Black Sea at the top. We took a boat trip up the Bosphorus. The best part was seeing the beautiful giant (wooden?) villas on the European side.
