AN OTTOMAN SILK AND METAL THREAD RED-GROUND CURTAIN, TURKEY OR EGYPT, DATED 1295 AH/1878 AD of rectangular form, the red silk ground embroidered throughout with silver and gilt metal threads, the calligraphic cartouches with ochre-coloured silk drops between silver-thread roundels, featuring a central stylised mihrab with a hanging lamp flanked by half columns and framed by an archway with foliate spandrels 219 by 138cm.
