‘Çevre’ (square kerchief; a decorative accessory). Probably from the Aegean Coastal region. 1900-1950. Embroidered with silk and metal thread on linen. This is ‘two-sided embroidery’ (front and rear are identical). Technique: ‘pesend’ (double running stitch). In Thrace, such kerchiefs are used in traditional men costumes, as scarves around the neck.
