Here's a great way to start saving money. The 52 Week Savings Challenge is similar to a game of Yahtzee. There are 52 weeks in the year with a dollar amount for each one. Each week your goal is to save the highest amount still available from the bottom numbers. While the highest dollar amount is the goal, there will certainly be weeks when you aren’t able to save the full amount. Whatever amount you are able to save each week, write it down and then cross the number off the bottom. Includes pdf.
How about this? I'm going to use this to save for a nest egg for my children, to help them each get a car. If I do it twice for each child they'll have about $2700... a nice downpayment. Only I'm doing it backwards - it'd be easier to come up with $52 in January than in December (when it's time to buy presents, etc.)
