Blue Bresse are good egg layers as well as delicious table birds. For a pest free nesting environment use chrysanthemum hay or cotton soaked with a chrysanthemum-derived solution to prevent insect infestations. Pine and cedar wood are also insecticidal so they may be useful in coop construction, but the same phenols that cause this are detrimental to chicken health in concentration and therefore shavings from these woods are to be avoided.
