1970s- Disco Fashion
The 1970's had its fashion inspiration from the Hippie fashion as well as pop the pop culture that was changing. Disco also played a strong role in fashion. Bell bottoms were widely used, everyone had denim, hair was shaggy, and colors were bright. The Hippie fashion incorporated many recyclable or raw materials to use. Miniskirts and hot pants were very popular as well as maxi dresses.
The role of women in society was profoundly altered with growing feminism across the world and with the presence and rise of a significant number of women as heads of state outside of monarchies and heads of government in a number of countries across the world during the 1970s, many being the first women to hold such positions.
