The Ten Commandments are two tablets that depicted certain ethical and moral rules that the Israelites were to practice. The Ten Commandments were given to Moses on Mount Sinai by God after the Israelites were freed from Egypt. These commandments formed the basis of Jewish society and law, as well as taught how to live a moral life according to God. The commandments are centered around vices such as: idolatry, murder, disrespect, lying, envy, and stealing.

One of the Bible passages I plan to teach my kids this homeschool year is Exodus 20 which includes the 10 commandments. In Deuteronomy 11:19, God told the Israelites to teach His words to their children as they sat in their houses, when they walked with them, as they went to bed and when they rose in the morning. In other words, parents were to teach their kids about God’s word whenever possible!
