the process for making an ombretta with watercolors is shown in multiple pictures

Hey there, I am back with my second card of my guest designing for Your Next Stamp! I created a "Get well" card with the "Sea Friends" set again. How adorable is that word pun?? I stamped the whale from the „sea friends“ set and colored it with aqua marker pens. The tiny dot details are made with an edding pen called „Pastel Pen-Soft white“ it is not that bright like for example a posca pen - it stays a bit transluscent, I really like that effect . I cut out some water fountains by hand from…

three different shades of blue, purple and green on a beige background with small dots

You may have heard me say that I don't think you can do anything wrong with Distress Oxide inks. Honestly, I like everything I have done with these inks, and I have actually tried to mess it up (such a putting orange onto purple, or yellow onto blue); but nope! Still like what I have gotten. And they are SO MUCH FUN to play with! Oxide inks are a fusion of dye ink and pigment ink. The dye ink soaks into your paper and the pigment ink sits on top. This combination gives your finished product…

several different colored inks are on the table next to a bottle of paint and a marker

This post is in conjunction with the Art 'n Soul Newsletter article "Technique of the Week" This post is less of a technique and more about trying out the new Distress Oxide inks. I was skeptical in the beginning, but now I know I LOVE these new inks. Oxide inks are a hybrid of Pigment ink and Dye ink. Where Dye inks soak into your paper, Pigment inks sit on top and take longer to dry. The Oxides have the best of both of these worlds. They blend like a dream, and they stamp better as well…

the sky is full of stars and snow as it looks like they are falling down

This is my third journal page for the March prompt (Friendship) over on Nina Ribena's Art Journal Prompts and More. I decided to use my Distress Oxides and some acrylic paint to make a night sky as the background for the quote I chose. I took plenty of photos so that you can see how I built up the effect. I worked on a piece of mixed media card (18.5cm x 19.5cm). The first layers involved blending different colours of Distress Oxide over the page using a blending tool; I keep a separate foam…

two pieces of art made out of metal and painted with acrylic paint on them

This weekend I opened my new Distress oxide inks. I tried them a bit, just to know how they look like alone, in the combination with traditional Distress inks or stamped and misted. So I made just a few small tags. They are nice to play with, I need to say, although if you want to make a nice combo of Distress inks and Distress oxides, it is better to be a careful with the oxides. Too much oxides can hide the vibrant colors of Distress inks and make all background too dull. And also some…
