Depending on how long you've been lifting, there's certain ways you should go about it that can really benefit you in the long run.-If you have been lifting for 0-2 years, you classify as a beginner. In this phase, the best move is to go with a 3-day full body split, while hitting muscles 2x/week. This will be the easiest time to progress.-If you have been lifting 2-4 years, you classify as an intermediate. the best move is to go up to a 4-day upper/lower split to get in more volume.
