Last Plantagenet king of England. Protector to his young nephew Edward V, Richard usurped the throne and governed well. However, he was dogged by rumours, almost certainly true, that he had murdered Edward and his younger brother. Abandoned by many of his supporters, Richard died at the Battle of Bosworth Field fighting Henry Tudor who, as Henry VII, founded the Tudor dynasty.
