Figurative Language - Metaphor: This little tyrant's torturing us!" (Alvarez 137). In this metaphor, the author is showing how Maria is comparing Minou to a tyrant. She does this because Minerva believes that Maria is torturing Minou, when actually Minou is torturing Maria by crying a lot. This comparison helps Maria get her true point across as torture relates to Tyrants. The reader can conclude that Minou's crying really bothers Maria.
