Nebula icon

M57: Ring Nebula, is located in Lyra. The Ring Nebula appeared as AIM in April 2007, imaged with the IAC80 telescope. This nebula can be easily found almost midway between the stars beta and gamma Lyrae. Medium-sized amateur telescopes can show the ring structure and its central star, but not the much fainter outer nebula, reserved for deep H alpha imaging.
