Ovid, and Lombardo, Stanley. Metamorphoses. (Indianapolis: Hackett Publishing Company 2010.) This image represents Pyramus and Thisbe's forbidden love. They lived next to one another but their parents forbade their love. Pyramus and Thisbe would constantly speak through the wall until they had enough and planned to meet and run away together. The wall symbolizes not only the physically boundaries but the boundaries placed on them by their family for forbidding their love. (luna-wannabe. Pyramus and Thisbe. Deviant Art. 2009) This animation shows two key pieces of the story of Pyramus and Thisbe. It shows the wall that physically separates them. It also shows a snow-white mulberry on the left and a blood red one on the right. This shows the transformation of the mulberry tree from white to red after it took one the color of the blood of the two lovers after they killed themselves.
