In this painting of St. Jerome in his study from 1492 by Matteo di Giovanni the saint is surrounded by books, scrolls and writing utensils: a scraper in his left hand, a quill in his right hand, an inkpot, scissors etc. He copies a book placed above the the manuscript he is working on.
