Have you tried this simple science experiment?

❤️ Draw a picture on a piece of paper
🧡 Color it in
💛 Place inside a Ziploc bag
💚 Outline the picture with a sharpie
💙 Slowly lower into a pot of water and watch the colors disappear!

How does this work?
♥️ Refraction happens when light changes direction, or bends, when it moves from one material to another
🧡 Light traveling through air changes direction when it hits water
💛 This makes it look like the colors magically disappear!

💌 Save and share with a friend for inspiration

Mabel’s Playroom on Instagram: "Easy science for kids 🧪 we love trying new, simple experiments and this blew our minds! The science behind this is all down to light refraction! Light travels through air, bounces off an object and then enters our eyes. When we look at the paper before putting it into water, light is travelling through the air and bouncing off the paper, however when the picture is placed into the water, it has to travel through air AND the water! When the light hits different angles of the drawing, it makes it seem like the colour has disappeared. Cool huh? 👏 #sensoryplay #sensorybin #sensoryactivity #easyplayideas #toddlerfun #toddlerplayideas #toddlerplay #busytoddler #playallday #eyfs #earlyyears #preschool #preschooler #preschoolplay #montessori #montessoritoddler #m Science Activities For Preschoolers Easy, Light Science Experiments For Preschool, Experiment Preschool Activities, Simple Experiments For Preschoolers, Heavy And Light Eyfs Activities, Easy Science Crafts, Air Activities For Kids, Light Science Experiments For Kids, Science Projects For Kids Preschool

Can you guess what happens when Pyrex meets cooking oil and water? Let’s discover! ⭕ MATERIALS: - Pyrex glass rod - Cooking oil - Water - Clear glass ⭕ INSTRUCTIONS: (1) Pour water into the glass and insert the Pyrex rod. Notice how the rod is visible. (2) Next, fill another glass with cooking oil and submerge the rod – watch as it becomes invisible! (3) For the final act, fill a glass half with water, and half with oil. Insert the rod and watch as the middle part of the rod disappears! ⭕ SCIENCE EXPLAINED: This experiment is a fantastic demonstration of light refraction.
