Whatever you call it...sneaky e, super e, magic e....Silent E (in all its forms) is the man! I love teaching Silent E and my kids love seeking it out in words. We take the *magic e* approach and the kinders love it. I find that when a magic wand is involved, kids are engaged. Magic E has one job... to make the other vowel say its name. After hammering home short vowels for the first 94 days of school we are finally introducing...... SILENT 'E'! In our classroom he is better known as "Sparkly 'E'". He was such a hit last year that I knew he would make another appearance on my plans this year. We started off by spelling some CVC words.
