My last rotation of classes had to take a little hiatus on the art projects we've been working on (and so very close to finishing) to help the PTA and classroom teachers out with an Original Works project. Welcome back everyone! Tomorrow is my first day back, a day full of meetings. Lots of changes for me this year, I'm at 3 schools now, longer work day, less pay, and more meetings. Stay positive, stay positive, stay positive, right? Anyways, I need help: Anyone have any great ideas for the square one art fundraiser? I have to do it w/1st and 5th. The 2nd Grade students studied the artist Vincent Van Gogh and his artwork. We also read the book, Camille and the Sunflowers. The students were able to create a giant sunflower creating emphasis in their artwork. Then they were shown how to blend colors using oil pastels. The students had to choose a cool color for their background to make their sunflower "pop" in their piece of art.
