Like most clubs on the Sunset Strip, the Roxy has a grand and sordid past rich with Hollywood history. The Deco-style marquee isn’t as flamboyant as it once was, but the nearby pole sign and its animated R still rocks on. Sure, the Rainbow Bar and Grill's backlit plastic pole sign isn’t going to win any design awards, but c’mon, it’s a rainbow in West Hollywood. Photo by Joshua Barash.

Two more legendary LA clubs. The 80s hair metal scene came from here. For once I wasn't driving so was able to hang out the back of the convertible and shoot the sights of Sunset Strip as we drove through. No apologies here for a bit of blur. We were moving. It was dark.
