This large scale forest embroidery was commissioned for a private interior project. Taking almost 600 hours to complete, this piece created a magical addition to a clients master bedroom, brining the essence forest surrounding the property inside. Working with one of the UK’s last remaining metal thread makers I explored how a variety of copper threads could capture the feel of branches, vines and trunks, combining to create a scene of seven trees, each with their unique personality.

This post has a lots of steps. But, overall, it’s about taking a small pattern and scaling it UP to be much bigger. (I could have named it big-ol’-monster stencil at work, which is accurate, but does not sound quite as artful.) Here’s where this project began: A group of monotype and screen-printe
