Los Angeles-based artist and actor Joseph Lee paints thickly layered portraits that mask the details and expressions of his subjects’ faces. His abstracted profiles sometimes reveal a subtle hint of an eye, nose, or ear between multi-colored brushstrokes, and are set against matte backgrounds to make each painting pop. Angela DiGiovanni is a self-taught mixed media artist from Utah with a passion for portraiture and the study of women. She often finds her own pensive, longing, and melancholy emotions show up in her painted ladies. She loves to explore deep and moody subjects. Her favorite mediums are oil paints, soft pastels, and water-soluble crayons.

Art via Inès Longevial // So when I came across French painter Inès Longevial, I was blown away by her portraits. In a way, a lot of these portraits showed me of how uniquely complex we are as women. I was especially drawn to the way Inès uses geometric shapes and bold colors to highlight the different features of the face and body. The flower fields come to life with the vibrant color palette of "Arcadia."
