AN IZNIK POLYCHROME POTTERY DISH, TURKEY, CIRCA 1585-90 of shallow round form with an everted rim, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, viridian green and relief red, the centre with a rosette and overlapping leaves against a pattern of small tight spirals, bordered by arched panels, the rim with a colourful abstract design, floral motifs to exterior 30.3cm. diam.

Bowl Place of origin: Iznik, Turkey (made) Turkey (probably) Date: ca. 1575-1600 Bowl of fritware, painted in red, blue and green on a white ground with a repeating design of pointed medallions filled in with arabesques, and surrounded on either side by a long-stemmed hyacinth; each of these designs is separated by symmetrically-arranged arabesques. Round the top and the base run borders composed of arches in blue enclosing small red floral devices.
