The so-called chintamani design is one of the most recognisable Ottoman decorative motifs comprised of paired wavy lines or tiger stripes, based on the depiction of the tiger skin coat worn by the Iranian hero Rustam, while the three balls motif may have had apotropaic associations among Turkic peoples, warding off evil by reflecting it back at the perpetrator.
