Homemade Kahlua For any of you interested in making this, make sure you plan ahead. You have to make the Kahlua and then let is set for six weeks. I made mine in the middle of November, so they would be ready to give by Christmas and the recipients could have a drink right away. Homemade Kahlua: 2 cups hot water 2 cups sugar 1 tablespoon instant coffee 1 tablespoon vanilla 2 cups vodka 1/2 cup good brandy
HOMEMADE KALUHA 24 cups brewed coffee, using freshly ground espresso beans. 1 – 5-lb. bag of sugar (approx 10 cups) 1 – 1.75 L bottle of Skyy Vodka 1 – 750mL bottle of E&J Brandy 8 Tbsp. pure vanilla extract Brew coffee. Add sugar & stir until it dissolves. Allow to cool to room temperature. Add vodka, brandy, and vanilla. Bottle, label, and if possible allow it to sit for at least 2 weeks in a cool dark place. | Popular Repin
My mom started making this recipe in 1960. I have been making it since the 1970's to give as Christmas presents. It is one of the best homemade Kaluha recipes I have ever tried. The longer it sits the better it is. We always celebrate our kaluha making with a Colorado Bulldog. See recipe below. Be careful..... they sneak up and 'bite' you on the butt!!
